Download Codes For Wii U HOT!

People who still have 3DS and Wii U eShop download codes for things like games have a few more days to use them. Nintendo announced an extension for using them, despite closing the eShop on March 27, 2023. People in North America and Europe have until April 3, 2023. The cut-off date in Japan is April 4, 2023.

Download Codes For Wii U

This is something of an apology. On March 27, 2023, Nintendo ended up cutting off the ability to redeem 3DS and Wii U eShop download codes for things like games and videos early. As a result, it offered an additional week to make up for it.

  • Important: A Nintendo Account is required to redeem download codes online. If you are redeeming a download code on a Wii U console or Nintendo 3DS system, you must also link your Nintendo Network ID to your Nintendo Account.

  • If you are redeeming a download code for Nintendo Switch content, you must first access Nintendo eShop on Nintendo Switch using your Nintendo Account at least once. Note: If you would like to redeem your download code directly on your Nintendo Switch console, please see our information on redeeming a download code on Nintendo eShop for Nintendo Switch.

  • On Nintendo 3DS, download codes for in-game DLC and themes cannot be redeemed online. In-game DLC must be redeemed within the specific Nintendo 3DS game.

  • Theme download codes must be redeemed in the Theme Shop on your Nintendo 3DS system.

  • What to Do: Using a browser, visit

  • Select "Sign in" and enter your Nintendo Account email address and password, and then select "Sign In". If you are already signed in, check the user information in the top-right corner to confirm you are signed in with the correct Nintendo Account.

  • Enter your 16-digit download code and then select "Next".

  • Re-enter your Nintendo Account password when prompted, then select "Redeem" to complete the process.

  • A confirmation email will also be sent to the email address registered to your Nintendo Account once this process is completed.

Instead, it refers to codes for digital downloads of games or DLC, such as those bought online, or the code for My Nintendo Picross: The Legend of Zelda Twilight Princess, which was available as a MyNintendo reward until recently.

This is a real 'last chance for desperate circumstances' sort of PSA, however. Most online retailers no longer sell digital game codes for either system, so you'll likely only have reason to heed this warning if you've got some old codes lying around - perhaps you've forgotten to redeem a DLC code included in a game package. If you've got a stack of Wii U or 3DS cases on a back shelf somewhere, maybe pop those open before April 3 rolls around.

A handful of indie devs are also giving away free codes for their 3DS and Wii U games as part of some social media promotions, as Nintendo Life (opens in new tab) notes. Keep your eyes peeled for other giveaways if you're keen to pack your SD cards to the gills in these final days.

Nintendo was supposed to shut down its Wii U and 3DS eShops for good on March 27th at 5PM PST, but it looks like you'll have a little more time. The company has announced that it has extended the ability to redeem download codes until April 3, 2023 at 9:30PM. The reason? "The feature to redeem download codes was disabled earlier than scheduled," Nintendo wrote in a customer support FAQ seen by Game Developer.

The company announced the eShop closures back in February 2022, and barred users from adding funds to their accounts on August 29th. The final shutdown was set for March 27th, so it's been extended nearly a week. After that time, you'll no longer be able to purchase new titles, but you can continuie to redownload 3DS and Wii U titles for now. Any remaining funds in your Nintendo Network ID wallet will be transferred over to your Nintendo Account wallet used in the Nintendo Switch until March 2024.

As of 27 March 2023, it will no longer be possible to make purchases on Nintendo eShop for Wii U and Nintendo 3DS. It will also no longer be possible to download free content, including game demos. Furthermore, as this date draws closer, related services will cease to function:

As of 29 August 2022, it will no longer be possible to use a Nintendo eShop Card to add funds to an account on Nintendo eShop for Wii U or Nintendo 3DS. However, it will still be possible to redeem download codes until 27 March 2023.

Even after 27 March 2023 and for the foreseeable future, it will still be possible to redownload games and DLC, receive software updates and enjoy online play on Wii U consoles and Nintendo 3DS systems.

If you have unused funds on Nintendo eShop for Nintendo 3DS or Wii U, linking your Nintendo Network ID to your Nintendo Account and merging your funds will allow you to continue to use those funds to purchase digital download titles, DLC, passes and other similar items for Nintendo Switch. The service for merging funds will remain available until March 2024.

As of March 27, 2023 at 5:00 PM Pacific Time, it is no longer possible to make purchases in Nintendo eShop for the Wii U system and the Nintendo 3DS family of systems. It is also no longer possible to download free content, including game demos. Furthermore, related services also ceased to function at various dates:

Even after March 27, 2023, and for the foreseeable future, it will still be possible to redownload games and DLC, receive software updates and enjoy online play on Wii U and the Nintendo 3DS family of systems.

If you have an unused balance in the Nintendo eShop for Nintendo 3DS or Wii U, linking your Nintendo Network ID to your Nintendo Account and merging your wallets will allow you to continue to use your balance to purchase digital download titles, DLC, content passes, and other similar items for Nintendo Switch.

GameStop offers download codes for various eShop games. Did you know that one prominent Virtual Console title is among them? This may have been the case for some time, but we now know for sure that EarthBound codes are available at GameStop.

Nintendo is pushing its digital distribution efforts with the Wii U, today announcing an incentive program to get gamers downloading content for the new console. Those who purchase the deluxe Wii U hardware package (which costs an extra $50 but includes 32GB of internal storage instead of 8GB) will get a 10 percent rebate on goods downloaded from the Wii U eShop.

The example given by Nintendo is that a game like New Super Mario Bros. U purchased in the eShop for $59.99 would earn 599 points. For every 500 points earned, Nintendo will give users a code for $5 in store credit for the Wii U or 3DS eShops. Nintendo will launch a website for the promotion in December that will allow users to see their points balance and receive codes to be redeemed for credit.

Points will be earned for all digital purchases on the Wii U deluxe hardware through 2014, as well as download codes for full games purchased through standard retailers. Codes will then have to be obtained from the site by the end of March 2015, with those codes further redeemed for the actual eShop credit by the end of June 2015.

The 3DS and Wii U eShops' final curtain comes after Nintendo did away with a major function last year - the ability to add funds to one's virtual Nintendo Network ID wallet using a credit card or Nintendo eShop gift card. However, there are still ways to add funds, purchase new games, and download them to the consoles, but doing so requires some roundabout methods.

Some online features for Nintendo's aging 3DS and Wii U consoles, however, will remain active even after the eShop finally closes its doors. Players will still have access to active online game services like Pokémon Bank after the 3DS store closes. Software updates for any games that still receive them (or players who have waited to download them) will still be available. And since the 3DS isn't known for ample storage capacity, any games that players deleted to make room will remain available for re-download even after March 27. 041b061a72
